About Us According to the estate agents 'Astwood Bank is a well sought after location'.  More to the point Astwood Bank is a caring and fun loving community and has held a Carnival since the early 1900's. Sadly in the late 1960's the Carnival ‘went to sleep’ but in 1988 the 'Carnival Spirit' was resurrected; the main objective being that of helping to bring the community even closer together.  The idea was to stage a simple family type of event and in so doing raise money for local charities. As part of bringing our community together, not a penny entry fee is charged to visitors to the Carnival Field during Carnival Day! We rely on the funds raised from our year round events and on donations from the Fairground and vendors on the site. We are pleased to say that this formula of 'Raising Funds for Fun' has worked in the most amazing way and to date we have raised in excess of £190,000.  Every penny raised is give to local charities who are ‘adopted’ on a year by year basis.
